The Underwriting Consultant will look at the characteristics of the health benefit plan as well as risks related to the frequency and potential severity of client losses. This individual will examine the characteristics of the health benefit plan as well as the risks associated with the frequency and potential severity of client losses. will provide appropriate rating methods by utilizing established underwriting policies and criteria. will construct and maintain models to aid in the economic evaluation of market options. Based on economic analysis and trends, the Underwriting Consultant will evaluate and suggest alternative pricing options and plan design modifications. In addition, this individual will prepare financial modeling for reserve and budget calculations as well as other ongoing reviews that are in line with the strategies of the client. They will check renewals and proposals for accuracy, including reporting on utilization and experience.

Prerequisite Skills:

Experience underwriting and managing financials for a defined book of business for any variety of products for at least three years in the healthcare industry: PPO, HMO, Stop Loss, Pharmacy, Dental, Vision, Ancillary, Self-Funded, ASO/Fully-Insured for group or individual clients with at least one year of experience in risk management, intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills are preferred.
